Description | Principles of law which form the legal framework for business activity including applicable statutes, contracts, and agency. | ||||||||||

Learning Outcomes |
1. Understand legal terms by reviewing key terms in the textbook and other assigned readings/projects. 2. Write an effective legal resume, locate forms and draft appropriate documents. Write an effective cover letter. Use correct grammar in speech and written word. 3. Understand and be able to articulate unethical practices in the law firm or other workplace. Utilize appropriate job resume and interviewing techniques. Perform tasks authorized for paralegals, not attorneys. 4. Utilize blackboard through the internet. Draft documents using Word. Prepare charts using Excel. Review power points as additional study materials. |

Major Assignments Schedule |
We will generally cover two chapters per week and do the review questions in class together. Because the text covers topics handled in other courses, we will not cover the entire textbook. I will let you know in class during the first week what chapters we will NOT cover. Tests will typically cover 4 chapters, sometimes 5. There will be some discussion topics posted on Blackboard, which will be graded. We will also do the review questions at the end of each chapter as a written assignment to hone your writing skills.
